A Generic Video Game Podcast About The Royal Rumble

A perhaps-ly named conversation about video games between Anthony Ernst and Mollie L Patterson.

//Episode 053
//Show Note: We talk about Mollie’s trip to the Royal Rumble, the potential end of E3, the passing of the legendary Reiko Kodama, the rebirth of Silent Hill, Bayonetta 3 and the troubles of PlatinumGames, a flood of shooters (the original kind), the messiness of physical releases, and more!

  1. Guys, great podcast like always. I just wanted to comment on the article Mollie posted on her site. I grew up in the golden age of square and I could never envision a world where the term JRPG could ever have a negative connotation outside of the basement dweller crowd that was CRPG gamers. To me and my friends the “J” was a defining trait of quality. Think of square (as the prime example) circa 1994-1998 and try to use JRPG as a negative; impossible. I’m glad to see that the JRPGs are becoming high quality again (look at the recent Tales and Persona for evidence of that). Maybe we’ll live to see a time when the J once again means what it was originally intended for?
