Absolutely love the podcast! It’s crazy listening back to 10 year old shows y’all did and hearing the same concerns with the deletion of mid-sized game productions. Everything now feels AAA (or AAAA if Ubisoft is to believed, which they’re not) or indie. Some of my favorite games growing up could never be made nowadays. The newest Lego Star Wars game had to be this open world, planet hopping, sidequest riddled mess instead of a tight and concise collection of platforming stages to fit into today’s market. Some part of me wishes we could return to the 80’s PC games industry where tech bases venture capitalists would give development funds to a bunch of 20 somethings who would crank out whatever they desired. As someone who will soon graduate university in the hopes of working in the game industry, I desperately hope that serious restructurings occurs 💀💀💀.
